I purchased this item a protection for my 50 amp surge protector. Placing this dogbone between the pedistal and the surge protector reduces the risk of plug damage to the surge protector. I have had a power cable plug burned up due to a bad receptical in a pedistal. Had the surge protector been placed directly into the pedistal it would have cost me $300 plus dollars to replace the surge protector. Better to replace a $15 power extender than the surge protector. No RV should be with out this…

I purchased a Camco 50 amp ‘dogbone’ (55215), a Camco male plug (55255) & female receptacle (55353) so I could splice a ‘hardwired’ surge protector (Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C) into my RVs ‘landline’. I cut the dogbone in 1/2 and ‘hardwired’ it to the surge protector. I cut the RVs landline (inside the basement compartment) and added the plug/receptical to it where I cut it.By doing so I was thus able to get a great 50 amp surge protector (with line current readings & remote…
